Sunprinting my wedding bouquet
We got married!
A full recap of the day coming soon, but first a little DIY.
I knew I wanted to preserve my bouquet, and thought about drying it, but to me, drying flowers can sometimes feel stagnant. Instead I wanted something that felt poetic. Something that felt like the day, a moment in time, imprinted in my mind forever and ever.
I followed this tutorial by Every Little Seed.
how to sunprint your bouquet
- Clip the flowers you want to print - because this was my wedding bouquet, and that’s a pretty monumental thing, I took time to process my experience and thank the flowers for being with me as I walked down the aisle.
- Make the turmeric + rubbing alcohol mix (1 part turmeric to 2.5 parts rubbing alcohol) by laying a coffee filter over a glass dish and filtering the water through the turmeric.
- In a dark room spread the turmeric mix onto a water-durable paper using a paintbrush. I used watercolor paper for this.
- After paper has dried, arrange flowers on the papers and place outside in direct sun. It was a windy day so I secured my flowers with glass from picture frames.
- After about 2 hrs, the paper will turn white. If you lift the flower, you’ll see a tint of yellow underneath.
- Next bring everyting indoors and mix warm water + baking soda in a dish. Dip each print individually and submerge for ~1 minute. You’ll notice the color change to be more amber.
- Remove from water, blot with an old towel and hang or lay flat to dry. I hung mine in a closet for a few hours and love how they turned out.

My next steps are to make black and white prints of each and frame them. Such a special way to remember a beautiful day ꫂ ၴႅၴ
